Dr. Rashid’s Scholarship

Dr. Muhammad Rashid and his wife are honoring serious students who memorize the Holy Quran by awarding annual scholarships. Priority may go to those who are in need of financial assistance if there is more than one winner. For a full biography of Dr. Rashid, please visit the UWF website.  

Dr. Rashid’s Scholarship Criteria

General Criteria

  • Families of the previous year’s scholarship recipient do not qualify for the current year’s scholarship.
  • Applications will not be accepted after the deadline
  • Only one scholarship will be awarded per family
  • Parents may nominate their child(ren) by completing the application
  • Scholarship covers only 2 months of the full tuition amount
  • Minimum of 7 scholarships will be awarded depending on number of applicants
  • If there is a tie, the runner up will receive 1 month of tuition
  • If there is a tie between 2 students, the consideration will be given to the student with more siblings in the school.
  • No letters of recommendation from teachers are required 

Applicant Qualifications

  • Must be an HQA student for at least one year.
  • Amount of ajzaa memorized per grade level:
    • 1st:   at least one
    • 2nd:  at least two
    • 3rd:  at least four
    • 4th:  at least six
    • 5th:  at least nine
    • Middle School:  at least 15
    • High School:  at least 20
  • Must be in good standing in the school in terms of discipline and character. Reflect our school’s mission: Oh, Allah, make us leaders of the righteous. Embody the school wide-goals: committed balanced Muslims, and contributing citizens and community builders.
  • Must be in good standing in doing school academic work. Knowledgeable scholars may only have one B+ in the 4 core subjects: ELA, math, science, and social studies. An A in all other subjects is required.
