HQA leadership believes that one of the keys to success and stability is to rally all the stakeholders to have a feeling of ownership of HQA. This cannot be achieved without involving and engaging them in the decision-making process.

Improvement Committee (IC)

One of the unique features that HQA invented to get the parents and community members engaged in improving the school is the Improvement Committee (IC). The IC is a committee of five or more parents, a teacher, a student, and an administrator. The committee can form subcommittees as its members see fit. The committee’s purpose is to examine the school closely to see areas that need improvement. The committee then works on these improvements after consulting with and getting the approval from the principal. The committee is autonomous and independent in its decision-making process. At the parent orientation meeting of every new year, parents are encouraged to join the Improvement Committee as well as the PTO. In addition, the IC sends surveys to parents to get their feedback about areas that need improvements in the school. The IC uses the results to improve the school.

Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)

The PTO is an organization which serves as a support system for the school, the school policy, and its staff. Parents elect the members and the officers assigned to each position. The main function of the PTO is fundraising and helping to organize and/or assist extracurricular activities for the students. The PTO is not a policy-making body and does not interfere with the management of the school. All functions carried out by the PTO will be carried out with the approval of the Principal/Administrator and any teacher or staff member involved in that function. A strong PTO is essential to the success of any school. We, the staff of the Houston Quran Academy strongly ENCOURAGE ALL to participate!
